Western Thrace’s 24th Cherry Festival to begin on June 12
The Municipality of Yassıköy in the Regional Unit of Rhodope has announced that the 24th Cherry Festival will take place from June 12 to 14, celebrating one of the region’s most distinctive agricultural products through a series of cultural and community events.
According to information shared by Iasmos Mayor Caner Imam, the festival program will feature live concerts, entertainment activities, and opportunities for visitors to experience traditional local flavors.
As part of the celebrations, a football tournament involving four local teams will be held at the Çepelli Village Stadium. Participating teams include Iasmos, Büyük Müsellim, Çepelli, and Narlıköy.
The tournament’s semifinal matches were scheduled for June 7. Büyük Müsellim faced Narlıköy in the opening match, followed by a second semifinal between Çepelli and Iasmos.
The tournament will conclude on June 14 with the championship final, scheduled to kick off at 5:00 p.m. local time. A trophy presentation ceremony will be held following the match to honor the top-performing teams.
Organizers expect the festival to attract visitors from across Western Thrace, combining agricultural promotion, cultural activities, and sporting events into one of the region’s most anticipated annual celebrations.
