Western Thrace Turkish Minority delegation holds high-level meetings in Ankara
The delegation included Mustafa Trampa, Chairman of the Consultative Committee of the Turkish Minority of Western Thrace and Elected Mufti of İskeçe; İbrahim Şerif, Elected Mufti of Komotini; and Sedat Hasan, President of the Turkish Youth Union of Gümülcine.
The delegation’s first stop was the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA), where they were welcomed by TİKA President Abdullah Eren. Commenting on the visit, Eren expressed his pleasure at hosting representatives from Western Thrace, emphasizing the historical and cultural ties between Türkiye and the Turkish community in the region.
As part of their Ankara program, the delegation later visited the Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities (YTB), where they met with YTB President Abdülhadi Turus.
During the meeting, the participants discussed the current situation of the Turkish Minority of Western Thrace, as well as ongoing educational, cultural, and youth-related initiatives. The talks also focused on opportunities to enhance cooperation and support mechanisms for the community.
Following the meeting, YTB President Turus shared a statement on social media, expressing his satisfaction at hosting the delegation and extending his greetings and best wishes to the Turkish community of Western Thrace.
According to information provided after the visits, discussions also covered ways to strengthen social, cultural, and institutional cooperation between relevant organizations and the Turkish Minority of Western Thrace.
The meetings underscored the continued importance of preserving cultural identity, supporting educational opportunities, and fostering stronger connections between the Turkish Minority of Western Thrace and institutions in Türkiye.
