Western Thrace Turkish Minority Advisory Board issues statement following Ankara meetings
A delegation from the Western Thrace Turkish Minority Advisory Board (BTTADK) has concluded a series of high-level meetings in Ankara, expressing satisfaction with the strong support voiced by senior Turkish officials.
During their visit, the delegation met with Director of Religious Affairs Prof. Dr. Safi Arpaguş, Minister of National Education Prof. Dr. Yusuf Tekin, Minister of Foreign Affairs Hakan Fidan, President of the Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities (YTB) Abdulhadi Turus, and President of the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) Abdullah Eren.
Meetings Focused on Minority Issues
Discussions focused on the current and ongoing challenges faced by the Turkish minority in Western Thrace, Greece. Turkish officials reaffirmed their continued and sincere support for the community, emphasizing Turkey’s close interest in their well-being.
The BTTADK delegation expressed gratitude for the warm welcome and attention received during the talks.
In an official statement, the Council said:
“We were received with warmth and sincerity during our meetings in Ankara. We had the opportunity to directly convey the issues concerning our minority. The attention and support shown to us gave great satisfaction. We extend our sincere thanks to the officials of the Republic of Türkiye.”
The Advisory Council’s visit underscores ongoing engagement between Ankara and the Western Thrace Turkish community, which continues to seek equal rights and recognition within Greece while maintaining strong cultural and historical ties with Türkiye.
