A delegation of around 40 people from Western Thrace attended commemorative ceremonies marking the 755th anniversary of the death of Hacı Bektaş Veli, one of the most influential figures in the Alevi-Bektashi tradition.
Western Thrace community joins Hacı Bektaş Veli commemorations

A group of approximately 40 members of the Western Thrace Turkish community took part in ceremonies held in Türkiye to commemorate the 755th anniversary of the death of Hacı Bektaş Veli.

The delegation included Dede Ahmet Paşa and Necmettin Kahya from the Seyyid Ali Sultan Ocağı and participated in an event organized by the Alevi-Bektashi Culture and Cemevi Presidency under Türkiye's Ministry of Culture and Tourism.

The Western Thrace delegation attended the ceremonies at the invitation of Esma Ersin, president of the Alevi-Bektashi Culture and Cemevi Presidency, and expressed its appreciation for the hospitality and attention shown to the group.

The two-day commemorative program brought together members of the Alevi-Bektashi community from across Türkiye as well as participants from Albania, North Macedonia, Bulgaria, Kosovo and Iraq.

The events focused on preserving and commemorating the spiritual legacy of Hacı Bektaş Veli, whose teachings have played a significant role in the cultural and spiritual history of the region.

During the program, members of the Western Thrace delegation met with participants from different regions, exchanging messages of unity, solidarity and brotherhood.

The participation of the Western Thrace community highlighted the continuing cultural and spiritual ties connecting Alevi-Bektashi communities across Türkiye and the Balkans.
