“We invite all parents to register their children in minority schools”
The registration period for Minority Primary Schools in Western Thrace will end on March 20th. All parents were called to register their children in minority schools.

In the statement made by the Association of Western Thrace Minority Schools Councilors Association sated: “Recognizing the responsibility that falls on all parents, we invite all of you to register your children in minority schools. Let's not forget that we can protect our schools, education and therefore our future by claiming this vital right.”

In the statement made by the Association of Councilors, it was stated that the requests regarding minority education were conveyed to the authorities and these issues were followed closely.

In the statement, it was emphasized that rightful demands regarding minority education were expressed to the authorities responsible for minority education and that these demands should not be ignored.

The statement made by the Western Thrace Minority Schools Councilors Association Board of Directors is as follows:

“Dear parents,

For the new academic year (2022-2023), the primary school 1st grade registration period has started as of today (1st March) and will end on March 20th. We have mentioned before, for various reasons, how important our minority schools are for our culture and therefore for our existence. Being aware of the responsibility of all parents, we invite all of them to register their children in minority schools so that our children do not stay away from the sensitivities they should have. Let's not forget that we can protect our schools, education and therefore our future by protecting this vital right.

On the occasion of the start of the registration period, we, as the Association of Minority Schools Councillors, once again would like to express our opinions about our schools and minority education in general.

As it will be remembered, with the boycott that took place with nearly 100% participation on December 17, we openly announced to the authorities and the entire public that we rejected all the coups aimed at minority education and that we did not intend to allow the usurpation of rights. The attitude of our organization, which represents the parents of minorities, is as clear as the first day, and there is not the slightest deviation in our understanding. For this reason we would like to emphasize and remind to the authorities, to Regional Education Director, Responsible for Minority Education Mr. Bantikos, that we expect from them to pay attention to our demands, which we expressed at the meeting with Mr. Simeonidis at the beginning of February, and not to ignore these justified demands.”
