“We are not a herd to be led or children to be scolded for”

Eastern Macedonia – Thrace State Assembly Candidate lawyer İlhan Mehmet reacted to  statements made by Dora Bakoyanni, Chairman of the Thrace Development Commission, during her visit to Rhodope province ad said: “I have never witnessed such a humiliating behavior against the minority. No one should forget that we are not a herd to be chased or children to be scolded.

Ilhan Mehmet, who made a statement on the subject from his personal social media account, said:

“To summarize briefly, during her visit to the Balkan region of the Rhodope province on Friday, 9 June, Mrs. Bakoyanni said, "She and the New Democracy party have always been on the side of the minority, but after the last election results and if these results are repeated on 25 June, neither she nor her party can no longer protect the rights of minorities”.

In recent years, at least since I started to deal with politics, I have never witnessed such a humiliating behavior for the minority!!.

It is also regrettable that these statements came from a family member, like Mrs. Bakoyannis, who had at least taken positive steps towards the minority in the past.

Our minority is a community that has certain dynamics within itself, but generally acts with its own principles and common sense in elections and votes in line with both micro and macro interests.

The cultural, social and economic loss for many years and the decrease in hope for the future has been effective in the orientation of the minority in these elections.

Therefore, instead of using our minority as a tool in electoral games, the political cadres should approach us sincerely and produce solutions to these crusted problems.

No one should have any doubt that the political party that will do this will get the majority of our votes without being under any influence!

No one should forget that we are not a herd to be chased or children to be scolded!!!”
