Victory Party leader Ümit Özdağ holds high-profile meetings in Gümülcine during Western Thrace visit
Accompanied by a party delegation, Özdağ met with representatives of key Turkish minority institutions and organizations, discussing current challenges, minority rights, and regional developments.
Visit to Gümülcine Turkish Youth Union
The delegation’s first stop was the Gümülcine Turkish Youth Union (GTGB), where Özdağ met with GTGB President Sedat Hasan and members of the association. During the meeting, Özdağ received briefings on the organization’s activities and the issues facing the Turkish minority youth in the region.
In a statement following the visit, Özdağ thanked the GTGB leadership and members for their hospitality.
Meetings with FEP Party Leadership
The delegation then visited the headquarters of the Friendship, Equality, Peace (FEP) Party. Prior to the meeting, Özdağ and his team paid their respects at the grave of Dr. Sadık Ahmet, the late founder of the FEP Party, offering prayers in his memory.
Subsequently, Özdağ held talks with Çiğdem Asafoğlu, President of the FEP Party. Discussions focused on the current situation of the Turkish minority in Western Thrace, recent developments in the region, and exchanged views on minority rights and political representation.
Talks with Gümülcine Mufti Ibrahim Serif
Özdağ’s next meeting was with Gümülcine Mufti Ibrahim Serif at the Mufti’s office. The discussion centered on the Turkish presence in Western Thrace and issues related to freedom of religion.
Following the meeting, Özdağ expressed his appreciation for the Mufti’s hospitality and highlighted his efforts in defending the rights and freedoms of the Turkish community in Western Thrace.
Focus on Education at Teachers’ Union
The visit concluded with a meeting at the Western Thrace Turkish Teachers’ Union (BTTÖB). Özdağ met with Union President Aydın Ahmet and board members, exchanging views on educational developments and challenges facing minority schools.
Özdağ emphasized that contacts with the Turkish minority in Western Thrace will continue and thanked the BTTÖB leadership for hosting the delegation.
