The Dimetoka Muslims Education and Culture Association hosted a large community iftar on March 17, bringing together members of the Turkish minority in a strong display of unity and solidarity during Ramadan.

The event, held in the Evros (Meriç) region, drew significant participation from local residents, reflecting the importance of communal gatherings during the holy month.

Broad Participation from Community Leaders
Guests were welcomed by Association President Süleyman Macır and board members. The iftar was attended by a wide range of religious, political, and community representatives, highlighting strong institutional engagement.

Among the attendees were officials from the Consulate General of Türkiye in Gümülcine, including Vice Consuls Adnan Öztürk and Umut Yamık, as well as representatives from the Mufti Office of Gümülcine and the Mufti Office of İskeçe.

Also present were Erol Yoluç, head of the Western Thrace Religious Officials Association, municipal council member Mehmet Çilingir from Soufli, and Mehmet Bostancı of the Friendship Equality Peace Party.

Representatives from civil society organizations also attended, including Mehmet Mümin Lütfüoğlu of the Western Thrace Turks Solidarity Association Keşan Branch and Mesut Şerif of the Seçek Minority Education and Culture Association.

Strengthening Community Bonds
The gathering served as an opportunity for dialogue and connection among various segments of the community, reinforcing shared cultural and religious ties.

Organizers emphasized that such events play a crucial role in fostering solidarity, preserving identity, and strengthening ties among the Turkish minority in Western Thrace.
