Türkiye’s Consul General Ünal receives quota teachers serving in Western Thrace
Türkiye’s Consul General in Gümülcine (Komotini), Aykut Ünal, received quota teachers serving at Turkish Minority schools in Western Thrace at the Consulate General.
The Consulate General of Türkiye in Gümülcine (Komotini) shared details of the meeting on its social media accounts, stating that Ünal met with quota teachers working at Turkish Minority schools in Western Thrace.
“We met with our quota teachers serving in Western Thrace. We wish them, their students and all their colleagues in Greece a successful and productive academic year,” the Consulate General said in its message.
QUOTA TEACHERS AND MINORITY EDUCATION
Quota teachers are sent from Türkiye to serve at Turkish Minority schools in Western Thrace under the bilateral agreements and arrangements between Türkiye and Greece.
Teachers working in the region play an important role in Turkish Minority education, contributing to students’ educational processes and teaching various subjects at Turkish Minority schools.
The meeting was held ahead of the start of the 2026–2027 academic year. During the reception, Ünal conveyed his best wishes to the quota teachers for the new school year.
The meeting also included wishes for a healthy, successful and productive academic year for students and all education professionals working across Greece.
