Turkish tourists fill hotels in Alexandroupoli

Due to the increase in the number of tourists from Türkiye, the hotel occupancy rate in Alexandroupoli has reached 100%, according to reports.
Apostolos Palakidis, President of the Thrace Hoteliers Association, told ERT that Turkish tourists have significantly contributed to the surge in visitors, particularly during the summer months. He noted that in August, Turkish visitors helped fill almost all available accommodation.
Palakidis highlighted that the increase in tourism traffic is not only in Alexandroupoli but throughout Thrace. He expressed their goal to maintain this momentum during the autumn and winter seasons.
Additionally, Palakidis emphasized the need for modernization and better accessibility at the customs gates in the Evros region to further boost tourist numbers. Recent data shows a 26.1% increase in crossings at the İpsala Customs Gate compared to July 2023.
