Turkish Ministry of Defense marks January 29 with tribute to Western Thrace Turks
Numerous institutions, organizations, and political figures in Türkiye have shared messages in honor of January 29, recognized as the National Resistance and Social Solidarity Day of the Western Thrace Turkish Minority. This day marks a key moment in their struggle for rights and recognition.
Among the official statements, the Turkish Ministry of National Defense also issued a message on its social media accounts, stating:
"We celebrate the January 29 National Resistance and Solidarity Day of the Western Thrace Turks, who have declared their national identity to the world and continue to fight against discrimination to protect their rights. We commemorate Dr. Sadık Ahmet, a pioneering figure in this struggle, with gratitude and respect. Turkey will always stand by the Western Thrace Turks in their fight for rights and the preservation of their national identity."
