Turkish consul general visits Çınar Mosque after attack
During the visit, Ünal conveyed his condolences and support to members of the Turkish Minority of Western Thrace following the incident and expressed hope that those responsible would be identified and brought to justice as soon as possible.
Ünal was accompanied during the visit by Vice Consul Umut Yamık and Mustafa Trampa, chairman of the Consultative Council of the Turkish Minority of Western Thrace and Mufti of İskeçe (Xanthi).
“We hope the perpetrators will be brought to justice”
Following the visit, the Consulate General of Türkiye in Gümülcine (Komotini) shared a statement on its social media accounts.
“We visited Çınar Mosque in İskeçe (Xanthi), which was targeted by a heinous act, and conveyed our wishes for a speedy recovery to our fellow community members. We hope that the perpetrators of the act will be identified and brought to justice,” the statement said.
The visit comes amid widespread condemnation of the attack on Çınar Mosque, with representatives of the Turkish Minority of Western Thrace calling for the perpetrators to be identified and prosecuted.
