Turkish and international artists unite at Selanik contemporary art fair
A major contemporary art exhibition bringing together Turkish and international artists opened at the Selanik International Fair (TIF-Helexpo) as part of the 9th Art Selanik Contemporary Art Fair, showcasing works under the theme “Meeting of Cultures.”
Organized by Istanbul-based Galeri Binyıl, the exhibition presents a diverse selection of artists from Türkiye and abroad, spanning multiple generations and artistic disciplines.
The project is curated by İlknur Şanal and features prominent figures from the Turkish art scene, including former World Artists Association president artist and writer Bedri Baykam, Baksı Museum founder Hüsamettin Koçan, and IMOGA Printmaking Museum founder Süleyman Saim Tekcan.
Other participating Turkish artists include Yiğit Yazıcı, Adil Ocak, Tuğçe Çalımbay, Filiz Kiprik, Hüseyin Rüstemoğlu, Can Özsobay, and interior designer Hasan Sefa Sofuoğlu.
The exhibition also features works by Greek artists Lia Eleftheriadou, Katerina Rimpatsiou, and Lena Morfogeni, reinforcing the event’s international and cross-cultural character.
Organizers emphasized that the exhibition aims to foster cultural dialogue between Türkiye and Greece while also connecting artists across generations, including the participation of a 12-year-old emerging Turkish artist.
Following its presentation in Selanik, the “Meeting of Cultures” exhibition will travel to Istanbul’s Galeri Binyıl in Kalamış and later to Flamm Hotel in Göltürkbükü, continuing its tour as a multi-stage international cultural program.
Curator İlknur Şanal stated that the exhibition represents a meaningful platform for promoting Turkish artists internationally while strengthening artistic collaboration across borders.
