Tsiaras: Evros is the beginning of Greece and Europe
The government measures that have been taken in the primary sector, after the fire in Rodopi and Evros, were presented today by the Minister of Rural Development and Food, Mr. Kostas Tsiaras. The presentation was made during an event-workshop entitled "National Strategy for Regional and Local Development", which was chaired by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis in Orestiada.
Evros is not the edge of Greece. It is the beginning of Greece and Europe", emphasized among others the Minister of Rural Development and Food Kostas Tsiaras, who then presented the projects, policies and actions developed by YPAAT in the Region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, to strengthen the primary sector.
Especially for the North Evros region, Mr. Tsiaras announced two additional programs, e-farming and agro-innovation, where through vouchers the interested farmers will be able to subsidize with 1,000 euros each. The aim is to acquaint the professional farmers of the beneficiary fire-affected areas of Central and Northern Evros with IT, the digital economy and innovative agricultural practices.
Responding to a request from the local community and the Region, Mr. Tsiaras announced that next week ELGO DIMITRA and the Region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace will sign a memorandum of cooperation for the recruitment of three additional veterinarians in the region.
The actions presented by the Minister of Rural Development and Food are as follows:
Actions/Supports Rural Development Program (RDP) 2014-2022
Improvement Plans, Processing and marketing of agricultural products, Young farmers, Aid for agriculture, environment and climate, Consultancy services, Quality systems as well as actions such as: Cooperation actions, Knowledge transfer and information actions, LEADER/CLLD
In the context of the 2014-2020 RDP, a total of 24,336 project beneficiaries have joined the Evros PE, with a total budget of approximately €370 million. of which around €248 million have been paid.
– For the Organic agriculture and animal husbandry measure => €85.5 million and 3,952 beneficiaries
– Equal compensation (supporting farmers in disadvantaged areas) => €72.2 million and 14,832 beneficiaries
– Starting a business for young farmers => €25 million and 932 beneficiaries
– Support for the adoption of new practices and technologies => €41.5 million and 501 beneficiaries.
