Tobacco producers outside the Rhodope province not to receive compensation!
The decision to exempt all tobacco producers from compensation, except for the Rhodope province, was evaluated as "injustice" by Xanthi SYRIZA Deputy Hüseyin Zeybek.
Deputy Hüseyin Zeybek, in his statement to the Presidency of the Assembly and the Ministry of Agriculture and Development, criticized the government's decision regarding the compensations given to tobacco producers.
Zeybek and Tobacco Producers Cooperatives Union "Kapniki" evaluated the decision taken by the Agriculture and Food Minister, Agricultural Compensation Institution (ELGA), and the Deputy Prime Minister as an "unfair" decision, which coordinates the support premiums and compensations given to tobacco producers.
Zeybek reminded that there are tobacco producers in the country except for the Rhodope province, and noted that it is an unfair and unjust practice to exempt tobacco producers from compensations except for the Rhodope province.
Reminding that compensations should be given to all tobacco producers, Deputy Zeybek said that he believed that justice would be achieved by the fair distribution of the “minimis” support program to all tobacco producers as compensation and that injustice would be eliminated.
Zeybek also referred to the statement published by the Greek Tobacco Producers Cooperatives Union “Kapniki” in the letter he sent to the parliamentary presidency and the ministry of agriculture.
“Kapniki”, representing all tobacco producers and tobacco cooperatives across Greece, reminded that they had taken the promise that compensations would be given to all tobacco producers in their meetings with the relevant ministries on tobacco compensation recently.
Expressing that it is a great injustice for the government to abolish the compensations with a sudden decision and only by excluding the Rhodope province, he argued that the decision taken was political and should be changed immediately.
