Three beaches in Gümülcine Municipality receive 2026 Blue Flag award
According to an announcement by the Hellenic Society for the Protection of Nature (EEPF), the beaches of Fanari Beach, Mesi Beach, and Saryer Beach were all granted the prestigious Blue Flag certification for 2026.
International Recognition for Environmental Quality
The Blue Flag program is an internationally respected environmental award granted to beaches and marinas that satisfy strict standards in areas such as:
- Environmental education and awareness
- Water quality for swimming
- Environmental management
- Safety measures, lifeguard services, first aid, facilities, and visitor services
Municipal officials stated that Gümülcine Municipality successfully fulfilled all required criteria once again, securing its place among Greece’s certified Blue Flag destinations.
Mayor Highlights Tourism and Sustainability
Yannis Garanis said the municipality’s beaches are both welcoming and capable of hosting thousands of visitors during the summer season.
Garanis emphasized that the Blue Flag program positively evaluated the beaches’ quality standards, safety measures, organization, and environmental protection efforts. He noted that the municipality received three awards among a total of 624 Blue Flag beaches across Greece.
The mayor also underlined the importance of the coastal zone for the local economy and called on residents and visitors alike to help keep the beaches clean, accessible, and environmentally protected.
