Ministers speak about the future of tourism in Macedonia and Thrace

Deputy Tourism Minister Elena Rapti and Deputy Interior Minister for Macedonia-Thrace Constantine Gioulekas examined the options northern Macedonia has in specialized tourism at a working meeting at the Government House ('Diikitirio') in Thessaloniki on Friday.

They looked at developing niche tourism such as pilgrimage/religious tourism, military tourism, and other types that could provide authentic experiences and activities.

According to AMNA Rapti and Gioulekas also exchanged views on joint actions that could highlight unique features of Macedonia and Thrace, improve their image abroad and domestically, and upgrade services provided to tourism throughout the year.

They then participated in a work meeting on pilgrimage/religious tourism in the region with the University of Thessaloniki's Religion Department and the International University of Greece's Organizational Management, Marketing and Tourism Department.
