The soil and the Turkish flag to be delivered to Samsun were received by the members of the Rhodope Bicycle and Nature Sports Group (ROBIS) in Komotini.
Consul General of Türkiye in Thessaloniki Serkan Gedik handed over the soil of Atatürk's House, which will be transported to Samsun by bicycle athletes within the framework of the 19 May Youth and Sports Day activities, to Salih Meriç, President of the Federation of Black Sea Rumelia Associations, and the accompanying delegation (9 May Thursday).
According to AA, the members of the Rhodope Bicycle and Outdoor Sports Group (ROBIS), who received the soil and Turkish flag to be delivered to Samsun with the support of different groups and cycling clubs in each province, set off from Komotini.
The athletes will hand over the soil and the flag they carried to the cyclists coming from Edirne with a ceremony to be organised at Ipsala Border Gate.
Meriç, President of the Federation of Black Sea Rumelia Associations, said in a statement to AA correspondent, "Since 2019, we have been taking the soil and flag we received from the Atatürk House in Thessaloniki to Samsun with our cyclists."
Meriç stated that the journey of the soil and flag taken from Atatürk's house in Thessaloniki will end in Samsun on 19 May.
