The Sacrifice tradition continues..
The traditional Sacrifice Mawlid, held in Kozlardere village of Yassıköy municipality in Rhodope province, was held on Sunday, July 9 this year.
Many cognates from all over Komotini participated in the traditional Sacrifice (Küplü Kurban), organized by the people of Kozlardere village.
The event started with the recitation of the Holy Quran. Afterwards, Mevlid-i Şerif and hymns were read by religious officials.
Mufti of Komotini, İbrahim Şerif, made the prayer of the Mevlid. Making a speech about the meaning and importance of the day, Mufti Şerif drew attention to the event of Sacrifice and the importance of keeping this event alive for centuries.
The event in Kozlardere village was attended by the Chairman of the Western Thrace Turkish Minority Advisory Board and the Mufti of Komotini İbrahim Şerif, as well as Rodop SYRIZA Deputy Özgür Ferhat, Yassikoy (Iasmos) Mayor and candidate Mümin Mümin, Eastern Macedonia and Thrace State Vice President Ahmet İbram, Komotini Turkish Youth Union President Sedat Hasan, Chairman of Western Thrace Culture and Education Company Hüseyin Bostancı, Chairman of Western Thrace Mosques Religious Officials Association Sadık Sadık, FEP Party Youth Branch President Burak Adil, Eastern Macedonia - Thrace State President Advisor Cihan İmamoğlu, provincial council member candidates lawyer İlhan Mehmet, veterinarian İsmail İsmail Molla Ali Mehmet, Dr. Ahmet Kasap, Kaan Mümin, Dr. İsmet Kadı, architect Sonnur Halil, Yassıköy deputy mayors Hakan Mehmet, Latif Halil, council members, Yassıköy mayoral candidates Caner İmam and Mehmet Mehmet, Komotini city council members Mesut Mehmet, Hasan Hasan and many relatives attended.
Meat, rice and ayran were served by the villagers to the relatives who participated in the traditional Kozlardere Sacrifice event.
