The Greek Parliament decides to lift the political immunity of 4 MPs, including Turkish Minority MP Burhan Baran

According to the official news agency of Greece (ANA-MPA), the Plenary Session of the Parliament decided to lift the immunity of MPs Markos Kafoyros, Hristina Staraka, Haris Mamulakis and Baran Burhan.
The Greek Parliament decides to lift the political immunity of 4 MPs, including Turkish Minority MP Burhan Baran

Markos Kafoyros (New Democracy): In 2018, it was requested to lift the immunity of Markos Kafoyros (New Democracy) for the offence of slander, allegedly committed while he was president of the Union of Agricultural Products Cooperatives of Thira.

Hristina Staraka (PASOK): In 2018, it was requested to lift her immunity for the offence of abuse of office, allegedly committed while serving as vice-president of Etoloakarnania region.

Haris Mamoulakis (SYRIZA): In 2018, it was requested to lift his immunity for the alleged offences of negligent infliction of bodily harm and violation of labour law.

Baran Burhan (Independent): In 2019, it was requested to lift his immunity for the offence of failing to declare his assets.

In addition, the Plenary rejected the request to lift the immunity of Kiryakos Velopoulos, leader of the Greek Solution Party, for the offence of using confidential information while in office.
