Seven-year-old child killed in house fire in Rodopi

A seven-year-old boy was killed in a house fire in the village of Gebecili (Rizoma), in the Rodopi region of northern Greece, local authorities said on Friday.

Despite the rapid response of firefighters and emergency services, the child could not be saved. 

According to ERT, his six-year-old sibling and their father were taken to hospital in Dedeağaç (Alexandroupoli) in critical condition, while the mother was reported to be unharmed.

An investigation has been launched by the fire service to determine the cause of the blaze.
