Seven new irrigation reservoirs planned for Kozlukebir Municipality
Seven villages within the Kozlukebir Municipality in the Rhodope region are set to benefit from newly planned irrigation reservoirs, as part of a wider initiative to combat drought and improve agricultural infrastructure.
According to an official statement by Kozlukebir Mayor Erdem Hüseyin, the reservoirs will be constructed in the villages of Hacıköy, Kızılağaç, Taşkınlar, Kardere, Işıklar, Dolapçılar, and Durhasan.
Mayor Hüseyin announced that the reservoirs for Hacıköy and Kızılağaç will be completed in the short term, while those planned for the remaining five villages will be implemented over a longer timeline.
Speaking about the project, Mayor Hüseyin said:
“We had a highly productive meeting yesterday with the regional deputy governors and mayors of the Rhodope region.
As part of the fight against drought, the regional administration has decided to construct a total of 17 irrigation reservoirs across our region.
The distribution of these reservoirs by municipality is as follows:
Şapçı Municipality: 5
Komotini Municipality: 4
Yassıköy Municipality: 1”
He added that Kozlukebir Municipality leads the list with seven reservoirs, which will be distributed among the following villages:
- Hacıköy
- Kızılağaç
- Taşkınlar
- Kardere
- Işıklar
- Dolapçılar
- Durhasan
Mayor Hüseyin concluded by noting:
“Reservoirs in Hacıköy and Kızılağaç will be constructed in the short term, while the remaining projects will be completed in the longer term.”
