Şentop criticises Greece over Western Thrace issues, vows continued support for Turkish minority rights

Former Turkish Parliament Speaker Mustafa Şentop has criticised Greece over issues concerning the Turkish minority in Western Thrace, stating that Türkiye will continue to follow the rights and interests of its kin community.
Şentop said Türkiye would remain attentive to developments affecting the Turkish community in Western Thrace and continue raising concerns regarding their rights within the framework of international law.
The remarks came amid ongoing discussions between Türkiye and Greece over minority rights, education, religious institutions and identity-related issues affecting the Turkish community in Western Thrace.
Türkiye has repeatedly stated that the rights of Western Thrace Turks should be protected in accordance with international agreements, while Greece has maintained that minority issues should be addressed within the framework of its national and legal system.
