Şahin businessman Mesut Kurak laid to rest at 42
Kurak, 42, died on Saturday, September 26, after a long struggle with heart problems.
His funeral prayer was led by Mustafa Trampa, Mufti of İskeçe (Xanthi). Speaking outside the family home, Trampa recalled memories of Kurak, whom he had known since childhood, and described him as a devoted family man and a role model for his children.
Trampa said Kurak would be remembered for his honesty, compassion, generosity and charitable work.
COMMUNITY MOURNS YOUNG BUSINESSMAN
Kurak was widely remembered on social media by members of the Western Thrace Muslim Turkish community following his death. He was particularly appreciated for his contributions to youth activities in the local community.
Only a few hours before his death, Kurak had visited a fundraising bazaar organized by final-year students at the Minority Middle and High School of İskeçe (Xanthi), where he was also a parent representative. He made a donation to support the event.
The school’s Executive Committee and Parents’ Association also issued a condolence message following his death, expressing their condolences to Kurak’s family and relatives.
The message described Kurak as the father of student Melek Kurak and the uncle of Hamdi and Zeynep Kurak, and extended prayers and condolences to the bereaved family.
Kurak’s death prompted numerous messages of remembrance from members of the İskeçe (Xanthi) community, who recalled him as a charitable and community-minded businessman.
Mesut Kurak was also a cousin of Bilal Budur, Publishing Coordinator of Millet News.
