Rhodope PASOK Candidate criticizes 240 Imam Law as divisive to Turkish Minority

Rhodope PASOK parliamentary candidate Sibel Mustafaoğlu answered questions about the problems of the Turkish Minority of Western Thrace in an interview with the Turkish Minority press.

Speaking to the daily Gündem, Mustafaoğlu said "In your opinion, what is the most important law that has been implemented against the minority in recent years? What kind of negative consequences did it have?", Mustafaoğlu said "I wonder how those who proposed this 240 Imam Law and those who wanted it to be implemented are still travelling in public."

"The architect of the blow to the religious freedom of the minority is the famous 240 Imam Law together with its preparers," Mustafaoğlu said and concluded her answer to the question with the following striking words:

"IT PITTED OUR MINORITY AGAINST EACH OTHER"

"Indisputably, the architect of the blow to the religious freedom of the minority is the famous 240 Imams Law together with its drafters. I wonder what they did it for and in return for what, who wanted it and why, and can they sleep well now? There was a discrimination in our mosques. It pitted our people against each other. It was not pleasant. However, as minority people, none of us is an excess. Everyone needs each other. I'm talking about the community, not the collaborators. I am not talking about people who are blinded by materialism and fame in politics. But sooner or later the truth came to the surface. I really wonder how those who proposed this 240 Imam Law and those who want it to be implemented are still travelling in public."
