Rhodope MP Özgür Ferhat joins nationwide farmers’ rally in Athens
The large-scale demonstration brought together farmers from all regions of the country to protest rising production costs and what they describe as insufficient state support. Members of the SPARTAKOS Agricultural Association of the Komotini municipality were also present at the rally.
“A Struggle for Economic Survival and Social Justice”
Welcoming Rodopi farmers in Athens, Ferhat stressed that their mobilization reflects legitimate concerns over escalating energy and fuel prices, increased production costs, low product prices, and inadequate agricultural support policies.
In a public statement, the Rhodope lawmaker emphasized that the farmers’ struggle is not only economic but also a matter of social justice. He noted that the sustainability of local producers is vital for rural development and regional cohesion.
Ferhat reaffirmed his commitment to supporting farmers’ demands, pledging to continue raising their concerns in the Hellenic Parliament and to pursue long-term, structural solutions to the challenges facing the agricultural sector.
The rally forms part of broader nationwide mobilizations as Greek farmers seek policy interventions to address cost pressures and safeguard agricultural viability.
