Region Parliamentary Candidate Ilhan Memet talks about his political goals
Lawyer İlhan Memet, who is a candidate for the regional councilor of the province of Rodopi from the New Regional Rebirth List headed by the President of the Province of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace Christos Metios, explained why he became a candidate and what his political goals are.
İlhan Memet, explaining his candidacy and his political goals to MİLLET Newspaper, answered the question of why the voters from Rhodope should prefer him and stated the following
MILLET Newspaper: Ilhan Memet, why did you run for region councillor?
Ilhan Memet: I believe that the solution to the long-standing problems of our region and our minority, such as education, lack of infrastructure and economic insufficiency, lies in politics. In solving these problems, the region government is an important actor. Because the state administration has broad powers and important funds such as ESPA. Therefore, as a member of the state parliament, I believe that I can contribute to the solution of these problems and the transfer of important resources to our region with my hard work, dedication and equipment.
MN: What are your political goals if elected?
IM: As a member of a second-tier local government, such as a state, I aim to find and produce solutions to the daily problems of our region and its people, such as infrastructure and regional economic development, by making the right use of regional dynamics such as climate and tourism.
MN: Why should the people of Rodopi prefer Ilhan Mehmet on 8 October?
IM: Since 2009, I have been practising as a lawyer in Komotini and I am in touch with the problems of our people. On the other hand, my childhood was spent in the periods when the identity struggle of our minority was flourishing and personally these struggles encouraged me to be interested and interested in politics. I believe that my professional experience and my ideological background constitute two important qualities that should be present in today's minority politician and that is why I call myself İlhan Mehmet.
