Qur’an Completion Ceremony (Hatim) held in Sümbül Neighborhood

The Qur’an course of the Sümbül neighborhood, under the İskeçe Muftiate, held a hatim (Qur’an completion) ceremony on Sunday, September 7. The event attracted strong local participation.

Students trained by instructor Ali Ferhat recited the Qur’an, poems, and hymns, creating an emotional and memorable experience for attendees. Mustafa Trampa, President of the Western Thrace Turkish Minority Advisory Council and Mufti of İskeçe, attended the ceremony and congratulated the organizers, students, instructors, and parents.

In a social media post, Mufti Trampa wrote: “We attended the Qur’an completion ceremony of our students in Sümbül neighborhood. May God bless our children with happiness and prosperity. Wishing them continued success.”

Speeches were delivered by İskeçe Independent MP Burhan Baran and Hüseyin Baltacı, President of the Western Thrace Minority University Graduates Association. Following the addresses, protocol members, including FEP Party Vice President Bahri Belço, left for the mahya ceremony in nearby Sinikova village.

The hatim prayer was led by Deputy Mufti Ahmet Hraloğlu, and Mustafçova Mayor Ahmet Kurt also gave a congratulatory speech. The ceremony was attended by İskeçe Muftiate staff, local religious officials, former Mustafçova mayors Rıdvan Delihüseyin and Cemil Kabza, and many community members from surrounding villages.

Participants were served traditional pilaf with meat and ayran at the conclusion of the event.
