A police officer serving in İskeçe was taken into custody on Saturday, September 27, 2025, on allegations of abuse of duty, unlawful detention, and physical assault.

According to an official statement released by the Hellenic Police Headquarters, the incident occurred in the morning hours of the same day. The arrest followed a complaint filed by a civilian, which led to a preliminary investigation. The inquiry confirmed the officer’s involvement in the incident.

The statement read:

“The complaint was submitted to the İskeçe Crime Investigation and Prosecution Department. Following the investigation, the officer’s connection to the case was established, and the necessary judicial procedures were immediately initiated.”

The detained officer has been referred to the competent prosecutor’s office. In addition to facing criminal proceedings, the officer is also subject to an internal disciplinary investigation.

The Hellenic Police stressed their “zero-tolerance” policy toward misconduct, stating:

“The Hellenic Police maintains zero tolerance for any behavior incompatible with duty and public safety. Upholding the rule of law, ensuring transparency, and strengthening public trust in the police force remain our core objectives.”

The judicial process regarding the case is expected to unfold in the coming days.
