Police officer arrested and disarmed after threatening estranged wife
Following his testimony, he was released on verbal orders from the on-duty prosecutor.
On September 6, the 38-year-old woman reported the incident to the Domestic Violence Response Unit, stating that her 50-year-old estranged husband, a police officer, had verbally abused her and threatened to publicly humiliate her if she pursued legal action against him.
After her report, legal proceedings were initiated, leading to the officer voluntarily presenting himself to the authorities. He was subsequently brought before judicial authorities and released following his testimony.
According to pameevro.gr, the officer's service weapon was confiscated, as was his hunting rifle. The victim declined the installation of a panic button and refused relocation to a safe shelter.
The charges filed against the officer include domestic unlawful violence, verbal abuse, and domestic sexual dignity violation.
