According to police, the suspects, acting together with an unidentified accomplice who is still being sought, carried out the offences between Dec. 15, 2025 and Jan. 4, 2026. The crimes included 19 burglaries and thefts from homes, shops, offices and a vehicle — 16 completed and three attempted — as well as six car thefts, five of them completed.

Two of the suspects were arrested on Jan. 9 during a coordinated police operation in a settlement in İskeçe (Xanthi), involving officers from the local crime investigation unit and the regional police drone unit.

Investigators said the group had formed an organised criminal gang. Their activities included 12 shop burglaries, four home burglaries, two office break-ins, one theft from a vehicle and six car thefts.

During the thefts, the suspects allegedly stole cash, jewellery, cigarettes and tobacco products, alcoholic beverages, electronic devices, mobile phones and documents.

Police said all stolen vehicles were recovered and returned to their owners. A stolen mobile phone was also found and handed back, while cash and clothing items were seized.

A criminal case has been filed against the suspects for forming a criminal organisation and committing aggravated thefts. The two arrested individuals were brought before the İskeçe (Xanthi) public prosecutor, while the investigation is continuing.
