Passenger train services between Alexandroupoli, Orestiada to resume
Greek Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Christos Staikouras, announced the reopening of the route during an event introducing the Reconstruction Program for the Evros region. Staikouras confirmed that two passenger trains would begin operating again in the Evros prefecture from October 21.
The first train is scheduled to depart from Alexandroupoli at 5 a.m. on Monday, October 21, and arrive in Orestiada at 7 a.m. It will then return to Alexandroupoli, departing Orestiada at 7 a.m. and arriving back at 9 a.m.
Another service will depart from Alexandroupoli at 3:20 p.m., arriving in Orestiada at 5:20 p.m., and then continue to Ormenio, before returning to Alexandroupoli.
This resumption of services is seen as a significant step toward improving transportation connectivity in the Evros region.
