The operating rooms of the Ophthalmology Clinic at Sismanogleio Hospital of Gümülcine have been closed for two weeks after a confirmed eye infection in four patients following ophthalmic surgery, according to ERT.

The patients were transferred for further treatment to the University Hospital of Dedeağaç and a hospital in Thessaloniki.
An inspection of the operating rooms of the Ophthalmology Clinic found no hospital-acquired bacteria. The Infection Control Committee will convene tomorrow to decide whether to reopen the ophthalmology surgical units.
