Opening hours of the 2nd Elderly Citizens' Centre extended to protect against the heat

The Municipality of Komotini has extended the opening period of the 2nd Centre for the Protection of the Elderly in order to provide protection against the continuing heat in the Rhodope region.

Last week, the Municipality of Komotini opened the doors of the air-conditioned 2nd Centre for the Protection of the Elderly (2ου ΚΑΠΗ ) to the elderly and vulnerable groups of citizens in order to protect them against the extreme temperatures experienced in the Rhodope region.

This morning, the municipal administration issued an emergency bulletin and announced that due to the continuing heat wave, the municipal centre at Gr. Marasli 1 in Komotini, the air-conditioned 2nd Centre for the Protection of the Elderly (2ου ΚΑΠΗ) will be open until Wednesday, 26 July 2023 for the protection from the heat.

The municipal administration has appointed Konstantinia Efstathiou, Head of the 2nd Centre for the Protection of the Elderly (2ου ΚΑΠΗ), as the person responsible for coordination and necessary actions, and Maria Mereti, Director of the Centre for Care and Solidarity of the Municipality of Komotini, as deputy in order to protect the population from the high temperatures.
