New GAT leadership conducts courtesy visits to regional institutions in Western Thrace
The newly elected leadership of the Young Academics Community (GAT) has launched its first official engagements with key regional institutions following its recent general assembly.
Operating under the Association of Western Thrace Minority University Graduates (WTMUGA), the group held its general assembly on March 29, appointing Hilmi Eren Sait as its new president.
As part of its initial program on April 8–9, the GAT delegation, led by Sait, paid a courtesy visit to Aykut Ünal, Türkiye’s Consul General in Komotini.
The delegation continued its visits by meeting prominent representatives of the Turkish minority in Western Thrace, including Mustafa Trampa, Chairman of the Advisory Board of the Turkish Minority of Western Thrace and Mufti of Xanthi; İbrahim Şerif; Çiğdem Asafoğlu, leader of the Friendship Equality Peace Party (FEP); Sedat Hasan; Kerem Abdurrahimoğlu; and former WTMUGA president Hüseyin Baltacı.
In a statement, WTMUGA emphasized that the visits were highly productive, enabling meaningful exchanges of ideas and reinforcing shared values among institutions representing the Turkish minority in the region. The association also extended its gratitude to all representatives for their warm hospitality.
The visits mark the beginning of GAT’s engagement strategy aimed at strengthening institutional cooperation and enhancing dialogue within the Western Thrace Turkish community.
