New board elected at Farmers’ Association, Botrotsos reappointed president
A new board of directors has been elected at the Gümülcine (Komotini) Municipality Farmers’ Association, “Spartakos,” following recent elections, with members unanimously reappointing Nikos Botrotsos as president.
The seven-member board was formed as follows:
President: Nikos Botrotsos
Vice President: Stratos Theodoridis
Secretary: Stavros Kosoutzis
Treasurer: Christos Papadimitriou
Board Members: Osman Arif, Kostas Baniotis and Ertan Dagli Salim
Focus on unity and support for farmers
The association said the unanimous decision to retain Botrotsos reflected recognition of his work to date, as well as confidence in his vision for the organization and the farming community of the region.
New Secretary Stavros Kosoutzis said the board aims to work collectively to strengthen the association’s role in representing farmers and addressing challenges facing the agricultural sector.
“We are moving forward united, without divisions or political affiliations. What unites us is our concern for the future of farming, our love for our region and the need to secure better conditions for all producers,” he said.
Membership drive and blood bank initiative
The new leadership also called on local farmers who are not yet members to join the association, stressing that a larger membership base would strengthen its ability to advocate for farmers’ interests and seek solutions to sector-wide problems.
One of the board’s first initiatives will be the creation of a blood bank for farmers, a social support project aimed at strengthening solidarity and mutual assistance within the agricultural community.
