Narcotics Anonymous to present recovery program in Rodopi
The Narcotics Anonymous (NA) will introduce its recovery program to the public in Gümülcine (Komotini) on March 4 at 7:00 p.m. at the city’s Multifunctional Center.
The presentation aims to inform residents and local organizations about NA’s work in Greece and worldwide. Representatives will explain how the fellowship operates, outline its history, and answer questions from attendees.
NA is a voluntary, non-profit fellowship of people recovering from drug addiction. The program is based on complete abstinence from all drugs, including alcohol, and follows a Twelve Step approach supported by regular group meetings.
Participation is free of charge, with no membership fees or external funding.
Groups are self-supporting and open to anyone, regardless of age, ethnicity, religion, or background.
Founded in the United States in 1953, NA is the world’s oldest and largest organization of its kind, holding more than 72,000 meetings weekly in 145 countries.
In Greece, the first NA meeting was held in Athens in 1987. Today, 56 groups operate nationwide, hosting 134 meetings each week in cities. In Gümülcine (Komotini), an NA group has been active since November 2019, providing a safe and supportive environment for individuals seeking long-term recovery.
NA’s primary message remains: any addict can stop using drugs, lose the desire to use, and find a new way of life.
