Muharram events bring communities together across four villages in İskeçe
The Mufti's Office of İskeçe organized a series of Muharram events in four villages, bringing members of the Western Thrace Turkish Minority together for religious gatherings, Quran recitations, and traditional ashura offerings.
The programs were held in Misvaklı, Elmalı, Koyunköy and Kırköy, where participants attended Quran lessons, religious talks, prayers and community gatherings marking the sacred month of Muharram.
The events concluded with the distribution of ashura, a traditional dessert prepared during Muharram, symbolizing unity, gratitude and solidarity within the community. Organizers emphasized the importance of preserving religious traditions while strengthening social bonds among local residents.
The gatherings formed part of the Mufti's Office's annual Muharram program aimed at fostering spiritual reflection and community engagement throughout the region.
