MP Ferhat calls for improvement of rural roads in Rhodope

Özgür Ferhat, Member of Parliament for Rhodope from the New Left Party, has submitted a written question to Parliament urging improvements to the region’s rural infrastructure, particularly the long-neglected agricultural roads.

In his parliamentary question directed to the Minister of Rural Development and Food, Ferhat requested clear information on the implementation status of Intervention P3-73-1.2, included in the CAP Strategic Plan 2023–2027, within the Rhodope region. He emphasized that the aim of this intervention is to improve access to agricultural and livestock enterprises—an issue of critical importance for underdeveloped areas like Rhodope.

Ferhat noted that agricultural roads in the region have been left in poor condition for years, making access difficult and severely disrupting the daily operations of local producers.

The MP posed the following questions to the Minister:

What is the current status of project applications submitted by municipalities in Rhodope?

What is the total amount of funding allocated for Rhodope under this intervention?

Is there a plan to accelerate the implementation process given the urgent infrastructure needs in the region?

How many technical files or project proposals have been submitted so far, and what is the timeline for their evaluation?

Ferhat underscored that improving rural infrastructure would not only ease production and marketing processes but also help retain young people in rural areas and curb population decline.

Highlighting the strategic importance of the agriculture and livestock sectors for local development, Ferhat concluded by affirming his commitment to closely monitoring the steps taken for Rhodope’s agricultural future and called on authorities to ensure a swift and transparent evaluation process.
