Minister Staikouras responds to Özgür Ferhat for expropriated lands

On 21 May, New Left Party Rodopi MP Özgür Ferhat, in his parliamentary question to the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, brought to the parliamentary agenda the issue of dozens of citizens suffering from the compensation of the expropriated lands during the construction of the Komotini-Nimfea-Bulgaria motorway.
On 12 June, Özgür Ferhat, who received a response from the relevant Ministry, made a statement on his official social media account.
In 2014, the compensation for the construction of the Komotini -Greek-Bulgarian motorway, which was initiated with compulsory expropriation, has not been paid yet, despite a long period of 10 years.
In 2018, the final unit price for the expropriated lands was determined in the decision No. 81 of the Court of Appeal of Thrace. The Minister stated that although 6 years have passed, the court decision has not been implemented and 1.5 years have passed since the decision of the Thracian Court of Appeal and the time for filing a compensation petition has expired.
Underlining that he brought this file, which was shelved, back to the agenda, the MP stated that there are those who want to benefit from the victimisation of these citizens.
In the official reply, he concluded his words by saying that the relevant ministry and all other institutions carried out joint work in order to complete the legal procedures, that the State Legal Council gave a positive response on 10 October 2023 in order to solve similar problems that set a precedent in other regions of Greece, and that our work will not end here, that he expects to resolve the issue in a short time and pave the way for the payment of the right holders and that we will always be at the service of our nation.
