Minister of Culture and Sport Lina Mendoni pays visit to Komotini
On Wednesday 21 February, the Minister of Culture and Sport Lina Mendoni visited Komotini and met with the President of the Region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace (EMT) Christodoulos Topsidis and held a working meeting with the participation of the officials in charge of the departments.
In the statement made regarding the meeting held in the building of the EMT Region Presidency in Komotini, it was stated that an evaluation meeting was held regarding the cultural projects carried out by the state and the planning of these projects.
Making evaluations after the meeting, State President Topsidis said, "We stated that culture should take place in the same framework with tourism, economy and agriculture. Thus, we determined a series of routes that will highlight the culture of our region and exchanged views on these issues." Finally, Topsidis thanked Mendoni for her visit to the region.
Regarding the visit, Minister of Culture Lina Mendoni said: "The Ministry of Culture has prepared a cultural development map for each region. This will satisfy the regional units, improve the quality of life of the inhabitants and at the same time act as a lever. Culture is now generally recognised as the fourth pillar of sustainable development."
