January 29 is undoubtedly a special, special, important and should never be forgotten date for the Muslim Turkish Minority of Western Thrace. What happened in Western Thrace at that time? Every year, is reminded by Turkish Minority institutions and organizations on the occasion of the anniversary.

Various events are organized (despite that it was prevented due to Pandemic), press releases, statements, condemnations are published. Statements on the subject are also published by the "motherland" Turkey, which is naturally the "guarantor" of the Western Thrace Muslim Turkish Minority.

Indeed, that's what happened also this year.

The issue of whether the steps taken to commemorate, understand and pass on to future generations are sufficient is an issue that concerns the minority and should make them think. It is a serious issue on which every family and every individual, as well as every institution, should ponder.

While January 29 has become known in the international arena, can it be considered that it is not known in our country? Of course not!

Well, has anyone seen, heard or read any official statement on this subject so far? We didn't hear! If anyone has heard, please let us know.

Even those who said that two elements, namely "Christians and Muslims" lived together for years in awe in Western Thrace, did not "click" until today.

As far as we know for the first time in history, this year, apart from the journalist Damon Damianos from Komotini, have you heard a statement from anyone who wears the jacket of terms such as the right, left, progressive, liberal, democrat, and scholar on this issue? We didn't hear! If anyone has heard, let us know.

Let's leave the right side aside, what about the "intellectuals" who say at every opportunity that they are fighting against racism, xenophobia and fascism? There was also no "click" among them. We didn't hear it, if anyone has, please let us know.

Waiting for explanations from political parties, governments and official institutions in Greece will probably go no further than a "dream", while the leading politicians of minority politics -with the exception of one or two weak voices- do not speak out!...

By God, the far-right are doing their job exactly as they believe. Those who follow the general assembly a little will understand what we mean.

What about the parties who always aspire to the Turkish Minority votes, elect deputies, and gather enough votes to elect even majority deputies?
