Millet News Editor Salih Canbaz to deliver an online presentation at an international academic program
Salih Canbaz, editor for Millet News and a PhD candidate in the Department of Sociology at Sakarya University, will deliver an online presentation as part of an international academic program organized by the Skopje-based Balkan Studies Foundation (BSF).
The presentation will take place on Saturday, June 20, at 20:00 (Greece time).
Canbaz will present his research, published in National Identities, one of the leading peer-reviewed journals in the fields of ethnicity, nationalism, and identity studies. The study offers a comparative analysis of the construction of Turkish identity in Türkiye and Greece.
The presentation will be held online within the framework of the “Balkan Specialization Studies 2026” program conducted by the Balkan Studies Foundation.
Founded in 2016 and reorganized after 2022, the Foundation operates as a think tank and research institution carrying out research, publications, and academic activities throughout the Balkans. It regularly organizes seminars, conferences, and summer schools for young researchers.
The BSF program aims to foster interdisciplinary discussions on topics such as politics, history, media, and identity in the Balkans through the presentation of doctoral research and academic papers by scholars from different countries.
During his presentation, Canbaz will discuss the construction of Turkish identity in Türkiye and Greece from a comparative perspective, focusing on the role of collective memory.
The program will be broadcast live simultaneously on the Balkan Studies Foundation’s YouTube channel and via Zoom.
