Mawlid Night celebrated at Bağlar Mahallesi Mosque
Organized by the Komotini S. Mufti’s Office, the program began following the evening prayer, with both men and women filling the mosque's upper and lower levels. After the call to prayer, attendees gathered in prayer.
Mufti of Komotini, İbrahim Şerif, addressed the congregation, sharing insights about the life and birth of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). Following his speech, Turkey's Consul General in Komotini, Aykut Ünal, took the stage to greet the participants and express his well wishes to those affected by recent floods in Yassıköy and Narlıköy. Ünal emphasized the importance of emulating the Prophet’s life, stating, "Being a good person begins by following the example of our Prophet, who was consistent in his actions and words, serving as a model for society."
The evening continued with the recitation of Qur’anic verses, hymns, and Mevlid-i Şerif by local religious officials. The prayer concluding the Mevlid was led by Mufti Şerif.
At the end of the event, attendees exchanged Mevlid Kandili greetings and took commemorative photos. Volunteers distributed refreshments during the program, while students from the Western Thrace Student Union (BATÖB) handed out Turkish delight as people left the mosque.
The event was attended by several prominent figures, including Turkey’s Consul General in Komotini Aykut Ünal, Western Thrace Turkish Minority Advisory Board President and Mufti İbrahim Şerif, Rodopi MP Özgür Ferhat, Deputy Mayor of Komotini Mesut Mehmet, Kozlukebir Municipal Council Member Cihat Şerif, and hundreds of locals from the community.
