Liberation of Komotini celebrated with ceremonies
Ceremonies were held in the city center on Saturday, May 14, 2022, on the occasion of the anniversary of the liberation of Komotini.
Ceremonies were held in the city on the occasion of the 102nd liberation year of Komotini. The celebration program started with the service held in the church at 11:00.
Later, religious, political, security and military officials went to the city square and attended the ceremony held in front of the sword monument, laying wreaths. The program then continued with official transitions.
After the authorities took their places in the protocol, the members of the associations carrying out cultural and sportive activities first made the transition.
After that, primary schools, secondary schools, high schools, vocational schools, music schools and schools providing education to children in special conditions made the transition. The ceremonies ended with the passing of the police and soldiers.
Maria Elli Gerardi, Secretary General of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, represented the government at the 14 May celebrations that took place in Komotini.
Deputies of the region Evripidis Stilyanidisi, Dimitris Haritos, İlhan Ahmet, Deputy Head of Rhodope Unit of East Macedonia Thrace State Nikos Tsalikidis, Mayor of Komotini Yannis Garanis, religious, police and military representatives as well as many people attended the ceremonies.
