Kipi Border Crossing to increase the number of staff

Burhan Baran, Independent MP for Xanthi, has always raised the issue of insufficient staff at the Kipi Border Crossing in order to speed up the service.

The relevant minister responded to the last parliamentary question submitted by MP Baran for the improvement of the service at the border crossing. In his answer, the minister stated that the number of 60 officers at the Kipi Border Crossing will be increased to 78 in the coming days.

MP Burhan Baran made a written statement about the answer from the minister after his struggle to eliminate the inadequacy of service at the border gate and stated the following;

"After years of raising the issue of understaffing at the Kipi Customs Gate and following my pressure, special measures are being taken, as can be seen from the answer of the competent ministry to my last parliamentary question. Within the framework of the organisation of the Independent Public Revenue Authority (ΑΑΔΕ), it is envisaged to increase the number of officers at the Kipi Customs Gate, which is currently staffed by sixty (60) officers, to seventy-eight (78) in the coming days. It is stated that in the coming years, seven (7) officers will be appointed to the said Customs Gate through the recruitment of officers through the ASEP (9/25.02.2022, ASEP), and nine (9) more officers will be added by the end of this year. As published in the Official Gazette No. 3GB/2023 and ASEP (also published in the appointment lists of ASEP), two (2) officers are expected to be appointed immediately. Also through the notifications of the DYPA (OAED), it is expected that one (1) officer will be appointed in accordance with 2643/1998 for the beneficiaries of the programme.
Thus, the above actions are expected to fill all vacancies at the customs gate. These measures represent an important step towards improving the functioning of the customs gate and addressing the challenges it faces. The staff reinforcement will allow the customs post to operate more efficiently, thus providing a better service to tourists and citizens."
