İskeçe Mufti’s Office continues “First Step to Marriage” seminar program
The seminars aim to provide a holistic perspective on marriage and family life, addressing the spiritual, moral, and social dimensions of marriage. The initiative focuses on strengthening family values and promoting a responsible, faith-based understanding of marital commitment within the community.
Marriage as a Moral and Spiritual Union
The sessions were led by speakers Betül Abdullahoğlu and Yıldız Uzun, who emphasized that marriage is not merely a partnership between two individuals, but a sacred union founded on love, compassion, responsibility, and ethical values—extending from worldly life to the hereafter.
Under the theme “A Family That Grows Through Marriage,” the speakers highlighted the strengthening of family structures through marriage and the importance of intergenerational bonds. Respect for elders, loyalty, and gratitude were described as core elements that sustain family unity, with the experience and wisdom of older generations serving as guiding forces within the household.
“Marriage: A Union That Extends to the Hereafter”
Another seminar, titled “Marriage: A Union That Extends to the Hereafter,” focused on marriage as a source of peace and stability. The speakers underlined that the marital contract is a serious commitment based on fidelity and responsibility, noting that modest and non-extravagant wedding ceremonies are more meaningful and beneficial.
Participants were also reminded that family bonds are formed not solely through blood ties, but through love and mercy. Justice, trust, and honesty were identified as the cornerstones of a strong marriage, while patience was highlighted as one of the most vital virtues in married life.
A key message shared across both seminars was that spouses should view one another not as possessions, but as entrusted partners, approached with a deep sense of responsibility and care.
Program to Continue
Officials from the Family Unit of the İskeçe Mufti’s Office stressed that a family model built on love, compassion, and responsibility plays a crucial role in social harmony and continuity, as well as in individual well-being.
They confirmed that the “First Step to Marriage” program will continue in the coming period with the same commitment and enthusiasm, aiming to further support families and prospective couples within the community.
