İskeçe, Gümülcine Red Cross Teams on duty in Santorini with two rescue dogs

After experiencing thousands of tremors in a short period, the residents of Santorini are receiving support from volunteer teams of the Hellenic Red Cross (E.E.S.), including rescue specialists and psychologists.
Experts from the İskeçe and Gümülcine Red Cross units, along with two rescue dogs, have arrived on the island to assist with search and rescue operations. The teams have established an Operations Center at the indoor municipal sports hall in Fira, coordinating their efforts from there.
Continuing their mission under the measures taken by local authorities, the volunteers are not only assisting in rescue efforts but also providing psychosocial support to those affected.
The head of the Xanthi Red Cross unit, Zeki Mehmet Ali, stated:
“We will stay as long as necessary. We will remain here for as long as we are needed.”
The teams are working tirelessly to ensure the safety and well-being of the people of Santorini as the situation develops.
