Iasmos Municipality Council condemned the looting of Horozlu cemetery

Iasmos (Yassıköy) Municipal Council discussed the damage to the Turkish cemetery in Petinos (Horozlu) village in Xanthi in its emergency meeting and condemned what was done.
Iasmos Mayor Önder Mümin stated that the destruction of the historical cemetery and the destruction of the holy tombstones by the municipality administration in the Avdira (Bulustra) Municipality Petinos (Horozlu) cemetery of Xanthi province do not fit the mind and conscience.
Inviting the City Council to an emergency meeting, Mayor Mümin called on his colleague Avdira Mayor to immediately correct this insult to common sense and the religion of Islam.
As a result of the condemnation voting, The Iasmos Municipality Council strongly condemned the disrespect towards the old Muslim cemetery, and demanded that this decision, which is against the law, humanitarian and universal values, be withdrawn by the Iasmos Municipality administration and the cemetery should be restored to its former state.
Mayor Önder Mümin also made a statement on the subject from his personal social media account. His statement is as follows:
"As a result of the emergency meeting, Iasmos (Yassıköy) Municipality Council has taken the decision regarding the request of the Avdira (Bulustra) Municipality to restore the cemetery, by a majority of votes, condemning the disrespect towards the Horozlu cemetery.
On this auspicious night, I would like to thank Mr. İsmet Kadı and the members of the Democratic Cooperation list in his person. At our “Berat” night, I think that the common attitude and joint decision taken by the Minority council members of the Municipality will reinforce the peace and consensus among us in the future. I hope that it will be a means of getting closer and eliminating the resentments.
The other opposition representatives of the list lead by Amucas abstained and voted white.
With this attitude, they have proven that they cannot tolerate even our centuries-old cemeteries.”
The municipality of Iasmos belongs to the Rhodope province.
