Hüseyin Zeybek, Burhan Baran’s parliamentary immunities lifted

On December 5th, the Greek Parliament voted to lift the immunities of three MPs, including Hüseyin Zeybek, MP for İskeçe (Xanthi) from the New Left Party, and Burhan Baran, an independent MP from the same region. The third MP was Zoi Konstantopoulou, leader of the Freedom Course Party (Plevsi Elefterias).
In the case of Hüseyin Zeybek, 247 MPs voted in favor and 36 against the motion to remove his immunity. For Burhan Baran, the vote count was 248 in favor and 34 against. Zoi Konstantopoulou’s immunity was lifted with 225 votes in favor, 57 against, and one abstention.
The parliamentary session was marked by significant attention as the decision directly impacted two Minority MPs from İskeçe, highlighting the political dynamics within the region.
